Actors (done)

In the whole of our film we have four actors. We have one in the title sequence and three in the opening scene. The main actor is in the title sequence (the murderer) and the two news reporters and the one live news reporter are the co actors in the film. If we was to extend our film we would have used more actors, such as police men and victims. We gave the main actor (murderer) a sense of mystery as you can never actually see his whole face, you only get little bits of each side. We did this to keep our audience on the edge and interested to watch the rest of the film and find out who he is. This also creates a sense of tension and suspense for the viewer as later in the film they could be looking straight at the murderer but they will not no its him. I gained this idea from the horror film research I did. Mainly from 'Saw'. in the First 'Saw' you dont see jigsaws face till the end on the film so I was trying to react this method. 

Setting (done)

The main setting we chose was a forest type around filled with tree's and dead grass. This area straight away connotes to the audience that it is based in a isolated area. We tried to film it in the night time to get a better lighting effect but this could not be done so we had to film in the day time (but edited in black and white). The first part of our news report is in a room with a plain white background. We did this because then the viewer is concentrating on the news report and not anything else in the view of the shot. The second part of our news report was in front of a set of tree's, with a public roundabout in the background. We did this here as the tree's connote were the murder actually took place which will make the audience think if the news reporter is standing were it happened. We did it near a roundabout to give the news report a sense or realism to our film. 

Props (done)

In our story board we has wrote down that we was going to use five main props. These were; Axe, Pickaxe, Kitchen knife,  Piece of rope and a Rake. But in our actual film, we only used two. These were the Axe and Pickaxe. These were the two main props used but we also used others props. These were; a Tool box (which the axe balanced on, to connote were he got it from), a Car (which was used as a get away for the murderer) and a microphone (used for the news report).

Certificate (done)

Due to the research I did, The certificate we gave to our film was a 18. This is because my film contains a high amount of gory violence, explicit language, and nudity scenes. As our target audience is aimed at 18-25 years old's this certificate suits perfectly as no on younger then our aimed audience can legally watch our film. I researched into films that had the same explicit aspects that mine does and found that all these films were rated 18. I researched films such as 'Texas chainsaw massacre' + 'Saw' and as my film related to these types of films I thought that this was the suitable certificate.

News Report:
Reporter - 5 bodies have today been found in and around St. Neots. Police have reasons to believe that the victims were brutally murdered by what seems to be heavy duty objects penetrating the body a number of times. There are currently no suspects but police are urging people in the area tocome forward if they anyone who may have been involved, or witnessed anything suspicious in the last week. This is Kate Smith, live is St. Neots for 5:05 news.

Evaluation 1 (done)

1) In our planning we said that we would film in the evening/night time to get a more stereotypical perspective to the film. But we all decided that it was much harder to do that so in my editing I changed the effect to black and white, which gave the evening time effect. The iconography we used was pretty basic due to the level of resources we had. This was filmed in a field near our school to make it easier to get in and out and upload of footage on the computers. 

2) This is a quick one second shot of one of the tools used in my film. I used a 'lens flare' on adobe premier pro as an effect for a quick flash. The second the audience see's this get them thinking if that was an axe or not. This will create a sense of mystery as they will be wondering if it was or not. This also connotes to the audience that something that happens later on in the film is going to involved this prop. The shot before this is of the murderer using the pick axe, but just digging up. So to the audience that doesn't show that it is anything that should be concentrated on until the quick flash, which then gets the audience thinking and i have used repetition of the prop.

3) As a group we all discussed how both the title sequence and the opening of the film were just as importantn as each other. So when we introced the first character, we also introduced the first weapon that will be used, and then further in, more weapons are introduced. This shot is a long shot of the murderer putting a weapon into the car boot. We purposly hid the weapon to create a sense of mystery for the viewer.

4) In our panning we wrote down many different shots that we wanted to do in our film. This reverse camera shot was used to show the front of the murderer but not enough to see his face to also create a sense of mystery. The tool box is then placed on top of the camera which creates a black out with out the use of editing. This shot also has an a title screen added on this shot to show our cast.

5) This was also one of the shot we planned to do. This is a establishing shot of the car pulling away and the enviroment it is in. We did the shot of the car pulling away at high speed to show he is trying to get away from someone. We made this shot establishing to show the vegatation and scenery. The scenery shows an isolated area in a woods with not many places to run. Their is also a title screen on this shot to show our actors.

6) In our planning we planned to show different weapons, but for a split second. this creates a sense of mystery as the audience are not to sure on what they have just seen but they can see a sharp edge. This will keep the audience interested as they know this is going to be used later on in the film but they do not know exactly what it is. We also used a 'lens flare' from adobe premier pro to create a flash to draw in the viewer attention and show this is important.

7) I came up with the title 'Tool Massacre' due to the plot of my film. I used a title screen with a plain black background. I used black as this colour connotes evil and death. The title is written in a mysterious and confusing font. This is to make the audience concentrate to be able to read it. This was in a different font the first time around but due to feedback i changed it as it was hard to read. The title is in a bright white colour to contrast against the black background so it stands out to the viewer.

8) This is a mid shot of our two news reporters. They are both dresses in formal clothes, e.g. shirt, tie. This shot was improved due to feedback. Their is now a 'news at 5 past 5' symbol in the top right corner to make it more presentable and create a sense of realism. This news report was filmed was three different angles to create another sense of realism just as a real news report would be.

9) This mid shot is a follow up from shot '8'. During the news report one of the reporters says "e will now go to our reporter live at the scene". this shot was filmed with traffic in the background to create a sense of realism. Their is a moving banner along the bottem of the screen, reiterating what the news reported is saying. We also used this incase any death/disabled people were watching. You can see she is in the same scene due to the scenery behind her.

Evaluation 2 (done)

I have chose a picture of Jennifer Hills, who stars in the film 'I spit on your grave'.

Similarities:

These two are similar as something bad has happened to them and they are both looking for revenge. They both show their emotions to the audience so they don't create a sense of dramatic irony. At the start of both the films the audience feels sorry for what the person is going/gone through. They both plan out how they are going to get revenge rather then just jumping straight into it. After they had planned what they wanted to do, stereotypically, everything fell into place and went perfectly. 

They both have the same plot. Their is one main person they are both trying to kill, but to do that they kill the people that are closest to them to get to them. They both share the same emotion through-out the film. They start with a angry, sad, revenge feeling, but as the filming goes on they become more and more relieved as they are getting more and more revenge. 

What they also share is the way they react to certain situations. For example, when they both get caught they don't try and get away or make a fuss of it. They are just happy that they have got revenge. They also react to other situations the same, such as; when they murder people in horrific, gory ways. For example, when the acting in my film is getting revenge on the final, main person, he uses a drill through his skull with would make anyone react in scared and worries mind frame and when Jennifer Hills kills a man by birds eating him alive. None of this even creates a tiny bit of emotion for each, they both just do the job and walk off. The audience cant understand this as they know what the person has been through at the start of the film. 

Differences: 

The main difference that these two actors have is identity. The actor in my film does not show his face till the end of the film which creates mystery. Were as in 'I spit on your grave', you see the murderer from the start of the film through-out till the end. This is because our film was directed to keep the audience on the edge and give them a sense of suspense. Were as 'I spit on your grave' was directed in a more open way were the audience know what's coming.
