First draft trailer (done)

This is the first draft of my finished film wihtout any feedback.

Script for evaluation 3 (done)

Hello, we are rlk production. The film you are watching now is called 'Tool Massacre'The idea of this film was based along the lines of newline cinemas production ‘seven’. Our film is based on a horror/thriller genre. We would use posters, trailers & movies adverts. Our audience will be targeted around 18-24 year olds. We will show our adverts in cinemas so we can show a longer trailer. Also we will show our shortened trailers on Television as this will address a large proportion of people. We are debating on whether to advertise in newspapers. The disadvantages to this are that we can only use static images. We all considered using livery. On our posters we will show our day release, the rating given by critics and a main picture to show the genre. We will not give to much away to give a sense of mystery and suspense.  We will release there adverts and posters a month before the film. Our film will be released around Halloween/October time as this is the time of year that will connote the genre of out film. Also as this month is around winter time, more people will be sat in watching films as a family. We are aiming to show our trailers and films in cinemas such as Cineworld and Vue. The only issues that will affect our film will be that other films in the same genre as us will also be releasing their films in the same time which means there will be a high amount of competition. This means that we have to make sure that our adverts stand out most from all the other films.

Se7en timeline (done)

00.03
This is the first shot shown in the title sequence. This shot shows the production company of this film. It also shows a book being opened, which connotes this is the start of the story. This shot type is a dutch tilted, extreme close up (ECU). There is low key lighting in this shot which will cause tension for the audience.

00.08

This is the second shot. This shows the producer of the film. This shot type is a aerial shot looking down onto a picture of a pair of dead hands. This connotes to the audience that their will be death throughout story. This shot uses a very low key lighting so the audience can only just see what is being shown, this creates an aspect of mystery.
00.12

This is the third shot shown. This is a ECU of some drill equipment and may connote to the audience that this may be used later on in the film.  This ECU also shows the importance of this drill. There is a low key lighting on this shot, and as this shot lasts for less than a second, causes mystery as the audience wonder what is being shown.
00.12

This shot is also showing a ECU on the drill but from a different angle. This shows the audience more off a perspective off what this drill looks like so they may recognise it in the film. There is high key lighting in the shot, this maybe because the director wants the audience to see this as it might relate to something later on in the film.
00.13
This shot is also a ECU on a pen knife from a side on view. This shot is not really clear on what it is showing, this shot is made for less than a second to create mystery for the audience as they will be wondering what it was shown. There is a high key lighting in this shot but as the lever gets pulled down it creates a black shadow, this may connote to the audience that there may be a quick change in mood in the film.
00.16
This shot is also a ECU on a shaving type of tool, peeling skin off of a finger. This may connote to the audience that this tool maybe used later in the film. The non diegetic music used in this shot is timed with the shot. For example when the blade goes upwards and peels the skin off his finger, the music does a high pitch squeak, which may connote to the audience that there may be a lot of screaming in the film. There is a high key lighting in this shot as the director wants the audience to see what is happening.
00.16
This is also a ECU on a razor blade. This shot will connote to the audience that this may be an important tool in the film. There is also high key lighting used in this shot so the audience can recognize this later on in the film. You can hear the non-diegetic scream of a girl in the background in this shot. This may connote that this tool may be used to make someone scream.
00.21
This is a close up on a person being tortured. This will connote to the audience that there may be some torturing later on in the film. There is a very low key lighting in this shot which creates mystery for the audience. This shot lasts no longer that half a second which also creates mystery as the audience wonder what it is being shown.
00.26
This is a close up on a hand picking a book up out of a draw. This may connote to the audience that something important may be found in a book or in a draw as is on a close up. The title of the film, “se7en” is also shown in this shot. There is very low key lighting in this shot and also the hand reaching over creates a shadow and blocks some of the screen. This will connote to the audience that something may happen in the shadows or in the dark of this film.
00.29
This is a ECU on a book being opened. This will connote to the audience that the film is just beginning or may be the start of something new. There is very low key lighting in this shot, which will cause suspense for the audience as the book is opening into a dark shot.
00.32
This is a dutch tilt close up on someone writing on paper. Will may connote to the audience that he may be taking notes for something or planning something. There is a very low key lighting which create tension and also you cant read the writing which creates a essence of mystery and tension.
00.39
This is a ECU on a film strip being cut. This may connote  to the audience that he is trying to hide something. The low key lighting creates a shadow that causes mystery to the viewer. But this may also connote that he might be creating a film.
00.40
This is a close up on picture taken by a polaroid camera. This will straight away connote the the audience that this man may be old fashioned. He is trimming a photo, which may also connote that he is a perfectionist. There is a medium key lighting so you can almost see the picture but cannot quite make out what it is. This creates a high level of tension as the reader wants to know what it is.
00.43
This is a close up on tape cutter. This links in with the last shot as it connotes that he is going to stick the previous picture down onto something. This will really connote to the audience that he is keeping track of something.
00.44
This is a close up on set of photos being cut up. The last three shots have all linked together were as the start of the film was all un-related. There is a high key lighting so the audience can see what he is doing. The pictures show two little girls. This may show that he is spying on someone, but connotes to the audience that he keeps making notes of some things.
00.49
This is a close up shot of someone sticking a picture of man down. The shot shows his finger sliding across the bottom of the picture with some tape. This gives the audience a for sure image of him creating a note book or planning something. There is low key lighting, but bright enough to show the audience what there viewing to give the audience a few clues.
00.51
This is a close up dutch tilt of a hand through a piece of paper full of writing. This shows the audience just how much he has written, without him even turning the page. There is a medium key lighting but just enough to create a shadow through the paper.

Story board (done)

Filming style (done)

The filming style I used was 'Hollywood style' This was because the majority of filming we did was stereotypical  to the horror film genre. For example, the settings we used (isolated forest) were stereotypical and will straight make the audience know of the genre their watching. The one type of anti-stereotypical imaging I used was the black and white effect. This is because in the research I did, I found no black and white parts in the films. I took this to consideration but i came to the conclusion that I thought it would work in my film. Also it gives the aspect of difference. So people that were looking to watch something a little different might chose my film over others.

Plot (done)

The plot of my horror film 'Tool Massacre' was based on the past of the murderer. The murderers brother died to  house hold drill murder. This triggers him to want revenge on the person that did it to him. He knows who did it to his brother but he didn't just want to kill him, he wanted to torture him. So he picked  the people that were closest to him and killed them, then went on to kill him with the same drill he killed his brother with. All of his murders were done with house hold tools such as, kitchen knives, rope, rake, spade and fire poker. With every murder he commits the police gain closer and closer to his trail and on the last kill were he gets revenge, the police break down the door of the flat were he kills him and then chase him. The murderer jumps out the window and makes a run for it. The police men that are chasing him have no choice but to shoot him before he escapes. But so they don't kill him, one police men stops, aims, and shoots the fleeing murdered in the leg which causes him to collapse. The two other police men run over, handcuff and arrest him. While they drag him to the police car, the murderer is just laughing with joy that he has got revenge, the fact that he has been arrested doesn't matter to him at all.

Title (done)

In my film the murderer goes on a killing massacre using house hold tools. So I came to the conclusion of  'Tool Massacre'. This title is very simple, but due to the certificate and the simple name, the audience can automatically know/assume what the film is going to be about. This title does not give to much away which will give a factor of mystery within the audience as they want to know what its about so they will watch it/buy it to find out. I didn't want to make my title to long as the viewers wont be interested. My research showed that most of the successful films had very short titles. For example, 'Saw' 'Able' 'Creep, so I tried to keep my title to a minimum of characters.
