Evaluation 4 (done)

We conducted a survey to establish a survery to find out the target audience for our film.

Demographics

We targeted both a male and female gender, between the ages of 18-24. The audience would probably be around the middle to upper class category. This group of people would be classed a target audience in the D to C range. This is because they are either in full time education, don't have a job or have got a part time job and still in education.  We didn't aim our film towards a specific race. We aimed it to our target audience and all races. The main reason of this is because their is no religious content in our film. Our survey proved that our target audience, 18-24, would be attracted to watch this type of film as it is a thrilling horror but no to scary. As our group is of young adults, we decided to aim our film towards this target audience as we could use our own views that we knew the audience would like and we would have the same views as the audience, where as targeting a film towards 30+ and not knowing what would appeal to them.

Psycographics

We used certain gruesome pictures that may not be accepted by certain target audiences. But we knew that as young adults and teenagers that these images would appeal and be acceptable to this age band. i chose the music in my film to create tension. For example there is a section in my soundtrack that starts really quiet and becomes louder and louder and then becomes into a crescendo. I timed this music to link in with my film so that it was not just a backing track. For example, when a tool box is dropped into the car boot, a 'bang sound' is made from the backing track. Out of both the genders we are targeting we thought that the female genre would be the section of people that would be most scared. This may not be the case but due to their stereotypically connotation of being the weaker and more scared gender we thought that they would be more scared.

Responses from the feedback

Every person in our group was given around about the same feedback. This was good as the feedback told us exactly what to do. For example, my feedback was to improve the transitions i had put on the actors names as they were hard to read. I had also had feedback regarding my title. I had originally called my film 'Seven Days' but this did not relate to the trailer in a specific way. So I then changed it to 'Tool Massacre' which related more to my film. Linking in with the title, the background colour on the title screen made it hard to read the title, as my title was white and the background was red. So i changed the background colour of the title screen to black to contrast against the title, which also connotes their is going to be a good and evil in the film.

Except for them reason, mainly most of the feedback was good and complimented our film. We was told that we used the right amount of shots and that we used them at the right time. Their was a minority of people that fed back to our group saying that they did not understand our storyline. As we was only limited to two minutes, we did find it challenging to create a story line that told its self. Taking this feedback on board, we made a few minor changes and the people that gave the feedback told us that they could understand the story line easier.
